Tucked away on a peaceful street in Morecambe, this gorgeous cottage felt less like a rental and more like a well-kept secret I was lucky enough to stumble upon. The beach and promenade are just a short walk away from the front door—close enough to hear the distant whisper of waves if you listened hard enough, perfect for morning strolls or evening daydreams. And if you ever felt like trading the sea breeze for mountain air, the Lake District is just a short drive away—close enough for spontaneous road trips, but far enough that you’d return to the stillness of Morecambe with a newfound appreciation for its quiet charm. A rare blend of coastal calm and countryside escape. The cottage has everything a self-catering traveller could wish for—thoughtfully equipped, effortlessly comfortable. With major shops just around the corner, daily life flows with ease, letting you slip into the rhythm of the town like you belong there. It’s the kind of place that lets you go beyond sightseeing—where, for a short while, you stop being a visitor and start being a local. And really, there’s no better way to understand a place than to live as one of its own. To top it all off, there’s your own private parking bay—no circling the block, no stress—and the WiFi is fast and reliable, for those moments when you need to reconnect with the outside world. The hosts were superb: warm, responsive, and genuinely kind. When I accidentally broke an ornamental bowl, they wouldn’t even hear of me paying for it—a small gesture that spoke volumes about their generosity of spirit.

Morecambe is an old seaside town that has past it's glory days but has a lot of character because of it. It has a huge old-school crammed second hand bookshop and has a few art initiatives. I feel like people will either expect somewhere in better fortune or love that it's a neglected town trying. It must have been incredible in its heyday and there is a lot of evidence of that in the town. I loved it.

Morecambe is a quiet bayside resort - it has clearly had better days in the 60's and 70's... and is sorely in need of an economic revival - the beachside is peppered with small gambling spots and modest pubs / restaurants. Easy to navigate and a good launching spot for the lakes district tourism.

It's a seaside town, family friendly without being too busy. It's not what I call a nosey place by any means. I can't get over how clean it is. The council do a tremendous job. The promenade goes for a mile or two and is well kept, with items of interest, including a statue of Eric Morecambe which brings back happy memories for me. It really is a pleasant town and seafront with tremendous views across the bay towards the Lake District and it's hills.

It was our First time to Morecombe and what we saw we loved. I really enjoyed visiting the Eric Morecombe Statue. Photo's don't really do it justice. A fantastic Tribute to a Man who gave so much. We had a fantastic meal at a reasonable price at the Old Station. A fantastic Victorian building. We enjoyed walking along the promenade looking out to see, even late at night it was a joy. We could have happily spent a few more days there.

Morecambe is a place that is suffering decline over several decades. The council have obviously spent a lot of money in the immediate seafront promenade. Particularly the tribute statue to Eric Morcambe. But the rest of the seafront frontage was is terrible. A lot of boarded up shops that don’t look as if they have been open in decades. The side streets of the main road were even worse. A very depressing area. The only decent place we found was The Station, which was a very attractive place. It was in complete contrast to the surrounding area. I won’t be returning to Morcambe..

We did not have great expectations of Morecambe - it was a convenient stop on the way north to Scotland. However, the location of the hotel overlooking the bay for a sunset drink and evening meal was the highlight of our whole trip. The staff were very welcoming and the rooms were modern and spotless. There was a good choice of food which was of a high standard. We will definitely be staying there again when we venture north.
