FAQs about hotels in Norwich

A Center of Commerce Through the Ages

Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.

Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.

Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.

Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.

Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

Norwich is a very comfortable city, with mixture of very old alongside modern. The cathedral is beautiful, and the cathedral cat very welcoming. Love the castle, and it's cafe. Plenty of great places to eat - pubs, posh restaurants and Weatherspoons; and bacon baps off the covered market. Walk along the river for a peaceful recharge. Go round the little backstreets for some interesting independent shops. Easy to get around. Use the park and ride as it's cheaper than parking in the city.

Norwich is at the centre of a county with two sides coast, the broads waterways, country villages. The city has two cathedrals, one castle two malls, lots of history and an efficient bus service. so much to occupy any age.

As I was primarily visiting friends, I didn't have time to visit some of the places of interest or revisit the cathedral. I made a note of places and would very much like to return. I spent more time walking through the city, including with friends and discovered a number of interesting passages and alleyways, including a walk way along the river. The weather was great for walking while I was there a couple of nights.

    Norwich is my hometown.

Norwich is my hometown. It's perfect for shopping and eating with lots of independent cafes, restaurants and shops as well as the chains. I know that there is lots of history and culture but it's not my thing, I suffer from chronic gallery fatigue. But it's there, go find it. Cathedral, castle, museums and theatres just for starters. If you ask me, the cathedral is the most beautiful in the UK. All those others are much over rated. Norwich is a beautiful city, I like wandering around and watching the world go by. Perfect for a long weekend. Norwich is well placed for exploring Norfolk. Lots to do and nice places to do it. Flat as a pancake so I don't recommend it for hiking. So plenty for a week or so. The broads are very mellow. Go boating, it's very chill.

I loved all the history of the City the many walks around it and learning such a lot as i went. The food on the Market tasty also the quaint cafes esp Elm Street corner one. `Head in the clouds `shop brilliant, full of colour and brilliant, warm staff. Norwich is indeed a fine city and i am proud to be a local. Enter the many Churches and Cathedral and if you need information there is always someone to assist also leaflets. The Forum is good to enter as often something going on, craft fairs, book sale, xmas things. Also Pizza above it, tasty.

There is so much to see and do in Norwich, I would recommend a 'treasure hunt' as you get to see more of Norwich. The castle and the cathedral were worth a visit and there are plenty of pubs and places to eat.

Ideally situated not far from the city centre and my place of work and near two supermarkets and eateries, quiet location, good communication with the host, friendly and quiet other tenants, beautiful and comfortable bedroom. Although I am more of a bath person, using the excellent shower was not a problem. The availability of shampoo and shower gel was a nice touch. Most of all: it is such a luxury to have the use of a kitchen that of course hotels never provide!

Great location just on the outskirts of Norwich. a 10 - 15 minute walk gets you to the city centre and most of the attractions. The hotel has its own car park just steps from reception and is included in the stay. Our ground floor room was in the extension so very quiet with no rooms above. Room equipped with fridge, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities which was very handy as no meals are offered. Modern bathroom with toiletries provided
