Good vibes! That's the first that comes to mind. We're actually still here. Initially was three days but we decided to stay a while more, so we extended day after day for another three days. We could get something cheaper but we felt good and didn't want to change. Very close to center, stores blablabla. That's not that important anyway. Clean and cozy and without that old hotel reception lounge smell. I think next time I'll choose Moxy again. We had a good stay and still have.

Always faithful to the Grosvenor. It’s our 3rd stay here, always at the same time of the year and we ´ll keep coming back because the staff is very friendly (Hi Debbie), there ´s a car park and the hotel is so well situated near the Hoe and the ferries.

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

As with most cities the town center is looking tired with lots of empty shops but the indoor center was busy even on a Sunday. The Hoe area was very nice and the Barbican is lovely loads of places to eat and drink We would come back

We didn't really have time for a thorough viewing of Plymouth as we were visiting a family member at the University & was only there for 2 days. We had a boat trip around the harbour which was good & informative. It had a good shopping centre and the area was clean. We walked to Plymouth Hoe which had good views which was popular with visitors and residents. We were fortunate we had good weather. We were pleasantly surprised with Plymouth as we hadn't visited before.

Excellent views from Plymouth Hoe over The Sound where you can 'while away' an hour or two with a coffee or an ice cream . Plenty of eateries and bars in The Barbican. Plymouth city centre appears to be undergoing a bit of a revival, with lots of new shops and major works going on along Amada Way and Royal Parade. Don't forget to visit The Aquarium and The Box (award winning Museum and Art Gallery), also Drake Circus Shopping Centre.

We are a group of four old Wiganers down for a football weekend . The Hoe and Sutton harbour are both historical and picturesque, personally I found them to be quite inspiring. In those areas there are many hostelries and restaurants to suite all tastes and budgets - the beer was good, the food was good and the welcome and hospitality were first class, especially in the Admiral MacBride and Cutty Sark pubs. We found the locals to be friendly, helpful and chatty in the city centre . At the football stadium and fan zone our club colours seemed irrelevant as we socialised with several home fans before and after the game All in all, we had a great weekend in a friendly and seemingly relaxed city, where we were made to feel very welcome by everyone we met. Thankyou Plymouth !!

The staff at this family owned hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was larger than I expected and comfortable and clean, we had requested a twin bedded room and this is what we got. The location is great for the Hoe, the Barbican, the shops and the arts - Plymouth Pavilions and the Theatre Royale within easy walking distance. The breakfast was very good too.

Scrupulously clean, friendly staff, great layout for lounging in the communal space - including pool table - and breakfast was a great selection, especially the pancake machine. The hotel was conveniently located for Plymouth Pavilions, only a few minutes walk, and close to the city centre the for shopping. This was our first stay at The Moxy but definitely won’t be the last!

Perfectly located near the best of Plymouth. The staff (at the Imperial Hotel, where you pick up the keys) were exceptional. A little leeway on returning the key and on parking on the last day. The beds were really comfortable, a member of our group is hoping to buy a mattress like the one on his bed at the Westminster Suite.
