We came to visit the RN Dockyard.
We came to visit the RN Dockyard. We spent 3 days of the trip at various exhibits...submarine museum, Mary Rose, HMS Warrior and M33. Could have spent another day potentially. We also went to the South Downs around Chichester for a walk - about a 25 minute drive. The old port with Ss Victory and the Mary Rose was awesome. We had been told it was not worth a visit. Should have been compulsory ! The restaurant on the edge of the port was stunning. There is plenty to see in Portsmouth.

Nice city if you don't stay in a budget hotel. Great views of the historic docks as you leave on a ferry. Terrific nautical museum, visit HMS Victory an absolute must ! Our trip was purely to visit the historic naval sites including the Mary Rose and Victory, but it ended up being so much more. Gorgeous accomodation, great food, lovely scenery and the locals were so friendly and knowledgeable. If you like history Portsmouth is the place to go. So much Naval history . Nice shopping area lots of nice places to eat as well Visit to the Dockyard is well worth it and especially as you can use the ticket for a whole year so can return as many times as you want . The spinnaker is amazing especially to look over the view of Portsmouth /Southsea and Gosport . All of the staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. The room was very nice, the bathroom super clean (with great shower pressure, a spacious tub, and VERY good hand soap). The bed was extremely comfy — unusual for all of the pillows to be as comfortable as this hotel. The decor of the entire place was very fun, properly themed. I had a good look at all the model boats. The downstairs is rich in decorative artwork and beautiful architecture, which is mirrored in the lovely stairways. Parking was ample and free for guests.
