Lovely quirky place with friendly people and nice places to eat and drink, although some are completely overpriced Beware holiday cottages, I’ve stayed in 3 this year and all were a disappointment, filthy, smelly and broken,many are owned by the same people so they have the monopoly and make no effort to keep standards it’s not in line with other places. Be aware that this village is at the bottom of a very steep hill. It's quaint, with a few shops, and decent places to eat. The beach is rocky, and not a swimming beach, and completely covered at high tide. Beautiful village by the bay.
Beautiful village by the bay. The little cottages and cobbled street are very picturesque. The Robin Hoods Bay museum in the village was very interesting indeed. There are quirky little shops, cafes and a couple of very nice pubs and Tea and Toast do some excellent bacon toasties. There is no parking in the old village but there are car parks at the top of the hill in the newer part. Be aware if you have mobility issues this ,unfortunately ,is probably not the place for you. Robin Hoods Bay is one of our favourite places to visit. We try to have a break there every year. It is a beautiful place with the most rewarding walks and steeped in history with fascinating places to visit like the Abbey, beautiful old churches, and quirky shops selling wonderful things. A great base for the Whitby area, and a heavenly place to come back to after a busy day. The walk down to Robin Hoods Bay is a delight and not difficult. We had some great pub meals locally at the Fylingdales Inn in the village, Hare and Hounds (Tasker) and Victoria Hotel pub (RHB). Janet and Steve are a lovely couple and very knowledgable about the area. Although this is a vegetarian hotel and we are not vegetarians this was not a problem. The full english breakfast was good quality food and set us up for the day. Janets homemade sourdough bread was really nice.
