The city has the perfect mix of old & new combined.

The city has the perfect mix of old & new combined. The history and Cathedral alongside the modern town with a huge Saturday market. Plenty of green space and local attractions. It's not often I say I could live somewhere that I have visited but I felt like this was a nice place to live and would love to visit again at Christmas.

Parts of the town aren’t great - rather run down, lots of empty shops - but the area round the market and St Thomas church is very good. We also found a superb breakfast at The Orangery. Walking by the river is pleasant too. And of course the cathedral is wonderful, although so is St Thomas church with its superb Doom painting and modern font and altar.

Lovely city, centre is clean and well kept.

Lovely city, centre is clean and well kept. Plenty of restaurants and gift shops with the cathedral a must see. Other attractions like Stonehenge are not far away too (about 20 mins drive). We parked in Waitrose as you have up to three hours parking, cathedral is about 20 mins walk from here but parking was £10 all day there

    Lovely city to walk around.

Lovely city to walk around. Lots of individual, independent shops to visit. Steve at tourist information was very helpful. Cathedral is beautiful. Recommend attending choral evensong. Don't bother with Stonehenge. It's totally blocked from site nowadays so you can't even do a drive by. Visit Avebury instead, about 40 minutes away. At least 4x the size, totally open and free to visit and you can touch each and every stone. Great storyteller there, does free presentations at former church. We drank mead from a carved horn as part of his presentation.

Property was in a perfect rural setting close to Salisbury with all it’s facilities but far enough out for you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Our only down-side was the heavy traffic, but the sat nav redirected us through the most beautiful villages on an alternative route.

The house keeping staff were really wonderful. They were so kind, friendly and helpful. The quiet, spacious rooms and the ability to open the window was wonderful. The shower was fantastic. The beds were really hard for us all and housekeeping found mattress toppers for us. The manager of the hotel was really welcoming and friendly. He took on board our issues that had affected our stay and offered us a free meal as an apology, which was really kind. All the staff are great.

Lovely, welcoming and attentive staff. We had a lovely evening meal for 6 and breakfast in the morning. Couldn’t fault the food or the staff, they were exceptionally attentive (but not intrusive). The room had everything we needed and both the room and the bathroom had plenty of space. In fact the whole hotel had a lovely ambience.

Lovely location. Within walking distance of the city centre although for the two of us in our early 80's there was the welcome alternative of a regular bus service with a stop immediately outside the hotel. Excellent food.

What a beautiful little house. Like a boutique hotel but with the benefit of a large space and your own facilities. Really gorgeous. Sad to only have one night.
