We were in Southwell for a family birthday lunch held in the Stage venue at the Old Theatre Deli. The food and service were excellent and appreciated by all fifty guests. We also had a first-class meal at the Hearty Goodfellow the previous evening - also highly recommended. Between these two venues lies the golden heart of Southwell - the Minster - a magnificent 12th century Romaneque church, known especially for the delicacy of its stonework - and in particular its rood screen and the carved leaves which adorn the capitals of the Chapter House and elsewhere. A lovely little market town with lots of individual shops in...
A lovely little market town with lots of individual shops in narrow streets and a variety of places to eat. Recommend Gossips Coffee House - delicious food and you can book a table! Parking is easy too and very central. Southwell Minster is a wonderful building with some amazing stonework features. Do book a guided tour. You can find free one road parking nearby and in a town like Southwell that's nothing to worry about. The rooms are comfortable and very nicely decorated.
