Having driven by car west coast section of Route 500 in a day, was beautiful but tiring , to stay over in Tongue(hotel) is a perfect base to complete north coast via Thurso and John o Groats and East coast sections. Then on home journey, followed middle section road A836 to Lairg and beyond. Hotel in Tongue offers easy access to all routes (North coast, East and South )and with good road conditions in summer. Petrol and small store available. Tranquil scenic area with lots of good walks. Lovely en-suite bathroom . There were nice walks locally and a pretty view. The staff were professional and friendly. The food was good. However we were a little disappointed with the choice available for the evening meal. The menu is not extensive which is fine but several items were not available for us to order. It was amazing to see the tide going in and out and the beautiful scenery surrounding the Kyle of Tongue. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean and very well equipped. There couldn't be a better place to stay to explore this part of Scotland. We loved staying there and would have enjoyed a longer time than we had available.Guest review byamandaAustralia
