Whitstable is pleasant seaside town. It has many small independent shops which means a better variety of goods are available. The high street is narrow but has two way traffic. This problem is mitigated by having many road crossing points and is a 20mph zone. There is a good variety of restaurants, cafes and tea shops to suit any budget. There are lots of nice places to eat and drink and they are particularly good for seafood. There's also a lot of independent shops selling interesting things which makes the town different to others. Whitstable has a lot to offer, great beaches, independent shops (plus a few good chain shops), cafes and restaurants, super dog friendly and wonderful locals! If you are looking for a quick getaway from where you are, then Whitstable is a fabulous option! I go virtually every year with my dogs for a break, beach walks, retail therapy, eating, drinking and relaxing. I love the variety of independent shops.
I love the variety of independent shops. The seafront, harbour area and little streets are really interesting. I swam in the sea and enjoyed restful hours on the beach. The vintage stores, charity shops and clothes shops are friendly and welcoming and I bought some nice gifts for friends and for myself. Windy Corner Stores does a great breakfast and coffee. The Whitstable Oyster restaurant was fantastic. Ossie's fish and chips were very good. There was a hairdryer too which was very helpful. The bar and dining areas are nicely decorated and welcoming so we relaxed there in the evenings.
