This is a beautiful island. The sea is warm and inviting.
This is a beautiful island. The sea is warm and inviting. The beaches, although there is some sand, are very stony, and beach shoes are recommended. We went on a boat trip to navigate the island, taking a route that circled the entire island. It was a small boat and we were driving it ourselves. The day was slightly windy, and the sea we didn't realise was quite rough once you moved away from the beach. We only lasted one hour of the four-hour trip booked. It would have been better to have been warned that the sea would be rough, as we would have chosen another day for our trip. There are many boats, including sailing, charter, and private vessels, visiting Poros, making the port very busy. The boats were fascinating to watch. There are numerous excellent tavernas, and they are not expensive. They serve a variety of local dishes, including fresh seafood and traditional Greek cuisine. The boat transfer from Athens takes only one hour, and the ferry operator is very prompt. I recommend a visit to Poros.Guest review bySandraUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Absolutely beautiful view of the city center.
Absolutely beautiful view of the city center. Very exquisite atmosphere given by the incredible large number of luxury yachts moored. Very busy and holiday air everywhere around. Beautiful and lively, lots of restaurants and gorgeous boats. We took the car so we could visit the island, well worth it. Monastery Beach was delightful until mid afternoon when it got crowded. We had choice to go to one of three closest islands near...
We had choice to go to one of three closest islands near Athens. Aegina is big and the closest to Athens so quite crowded on weekends where Athenians escape from the heat. Hydra is quite beautiful but a bit expensive, no sandy beaches near center and no transport on island except of horses and donkeys (it is charming, though, worth to visit for one day). So the last choice was Poros, with moderate prices, nice beaches, even free municipal bus, and 5 minutes boat ride to the mainland village of Galatas, which also has great restaurants to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine.Guest review byKA111ERGeorgia - 10.0

Beautiful easy going and laid back island, the atmosphere in town is magical (especially sunsets) and the natural beaches are amazing. The view and sunset is marvelous! The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was very good! It is quite easy to reach the hotel from the port (a little up the hill) although there could be better indications/directions from the bottom road. It was a big room with a very comfortable bed. We really enjoyed the included Breakfast which was fresh juice, a huge cup of filtered coffee, and toast. We walked to the beach and loved sitting in front of the hotel watching the locals of Poros. This island is laid back and very relaxing.
