The property is overlooking a valley and the hillsides of Oprtalj, making it very scenic. The property is modern, clean and the apartment had a very pleasant smell. All amenities were available and the host was very approachable and responded fast to any inquiries. My stay was magical. The area is very peaceful and there is parking available at the property. If you are looking for a property near Motovun, you are into exploring the many wineries of the area and you wish to try boškarin beef and pasta with Istrian truffles, you are in the right place as it is close to places offering such opportunities. I will definitely return!

Ponte Porton is an attractive building just off the small road to Buje, set against the hillside with poplar forests to one side. We found it peaceful and quiet, despite the frequent visitors coming to eat. Nightingale song was a constant backdrop. Our charming hostess could not have been more welcoming and helpful: nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts gave a huge choice, with hot and cold food, local hams and cheeses, and freshly-cooked pies and bruschettas. The evening menu in the restaurant included the typical Istrian pasta and meat dishes (which were delicious), plus a vegan/coeliac menu: vegetarians can’t do too well in Croatia, so they will be pleased to stay here!

    We walked to town to have dinner - a great walk thru the...

    We walked to town to have dinner - a great walk thru the forest and farms and views of Motovun. Oprtalj is just the perfect small little village to explore. Mountain biking would be great exploration for our next trip in this area. We could easily spent 3 weeks here instead of just 3 days. Our host gave us much information of places to visit thru smaller roadways as well as his history of his own family farm and village, and his work in restoration work of the building and tasting rooms.

    One of the four old towns in the northwestern part of the interior of Istria that delights with its harmony and beauty. In addition to visiting historic towns, it is possible to see many natural beauties, such as the Istrian desert near Šterna and the Butori waterfall. During your stay in Oprtalj, you must visit the Oprtalj tavern, where with the help of a nice and hospitable chef you will be able to try some of the great Istrian specialties, as well as very good Teran!

    A quaint old town on top of the hill with beautiful view of...

    A quaint old town on top of the hill with beautiful view of Istra and Motovun to the south and view of beautiful nature to the north. Old town is unexpectedly quiet and with a lot of dilapidated old houses, which is strange for Istra where most old towns are now undergoing a tourist boom. Great for bicycling or hiking.
