FAQs about hotels in Zadar

Dalmatias Historical Heart

Tucked away on the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea and surrounded by small archipelago, Zadar is sprinkled with Romanesque architecture, medieval churches and protected by 16th century fortifications and high walls.

As the waves crash along the shores, the sea organ will play its harmonic sounds and welcome you to Zadar’s lively and charming Old Town, located across from the mainland. It is lined with marble walkways, landmarks, fascinating museums, and priceless archives.

It is home to the National Museum, Five Wells Square, the 14th-century University of Zadar, and the Roman Forum which features the 9th-century St Donatus' Church and 12th-century St. Mary's Church.

Stroll along the pretty tree-lined promenades and enjoy a meal in the several cafés, restaurants and bars which line Zadar's streets. Visit the popular Peoples Square in the district Narodni trg and shop in the Mercator Centar or City Galleria.

Booking.com has places to stay in Zadar and across the coastline in cities such as Bibinje, Petrcane and Sukošan. Zadar Airport links the city to several European destinations.

Great city. perfect old town and most importantly the promenade was simply beautiful. Just the right level of tourists - did not feel overwhelmingly crowded. Brilliant sunsets. Well connected for local sights such as Plitvice National Park, Kornati National Park, Nin town (not to be missed).

We spent a day exploring the old town which was lovely with lots of quaint little streets full of great bars and restaurants. The following day we spent on the Kolovare beach which was pebbly but had great facilities (showers, changing areas, toilets, beach bar) and the clearest water

Zadar is great for day or so but it's small with not too much to do after day 2. There are lots of tourists and it's expensive compared to other places in Croatia that are less crowded and more interesting and have less shops selling fridge magnets. The islands are great but get a local ferry and avoid the tours. Watch out for the cruise ships flooding the town with tour groups. Food is rather repetitive and expensive if you don't like pizza and pasta and it's tough for vegetarians. Sorry if this sounds negative. I had a good time and grew to like pizzas and I eat meat.

Zadar was recommended to us by friends.

Zadar was recommended to us by friends. It was a lovely old town with loads of bars and restaurants. Everyone was friendly, we didn't see anything that made us feel unsafe. The promenade walk around the small marina at the Land Gate, to the Sea Organ and onto the larger marina was lovely. We took a boat trip to 3 islands (4 hours) on a speedboat which was really enjoyable. It might be worth checking which days the cruise ships are in port as it made a massive difference to how busy the Old Town was. We hired a car and had trips out to Zaton, Nin and Pag. Pag was amazing, it was like going to the moon next to the sea. We were forecast to have a day of thundery showers (but it never happened!) so we booked a session at the Visnjik sports centre to play Padel and keep dry. An amazing facility for any sporty people, worth a visit.

Zadar has so much to offer — from narrow, charming streets full of cafés and restaurants serving delicious food and good music (like Rock Caffe), to interesting interiors, lovely beaches, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and parks. There’s also a wide range of organized boat trips to national parks, public transportation (though often delayed), and ferry connections to Ugljan Island and beyond.

Excelent location, wright in the old town. Great parking for the car. Great staff, that are welcoming. Thanks for the curly hair blonde girl from the reception. She was helpful and the check-in and check- out process was quick. The rooms are nice with everything you might need. Great cosmetics in the bathroom. The rooms are similar to Marriott and Hilton hotels. It is not a cheap hotel but it is worth its money. You get value for your money!

The property was not as advertised. It was NOT a One Bedroom mobile home. It was a STUDIO with a curtain in the middle. The mobile home was not premium, it was pretty basic. If you call having a dishwasher and a few slogans written on the walls premium, then you are sorely mistaken. Very expensive for what it was. We checked out early and relocated to a luxurious 5 star hotel and it cost less than the price of this shoebox on a campsite!

Apartment Ema is by far the best apartment we have stayed in over the last 60 nights of travel. Right from the street you see a beautiful painted building with the name proudly painted on it. Once inside its like a 5 star hotel room. Everything was spotless and top marks to the owner, manager and cleaner.
