This place is actually one of the best places we have stayed so far and we found it quite cheap for what we got. The owner was very helpful and honestly cares about any questions we had. Our room (the junior suite) was large and we had an own terrace and access to a further terrace with magnificant views to the Etna and the town.

I am absolutely sure that La Dimora del Castelluccio is the best place to stay when visiting Sicily. It has a great location on top of the small medieval town of Castiglione di Sicilia at the foot of Mount Etna. From its terrace you can enjoy a wonderful view of the volcano and the city, as well as the whole area around. The building on which the apartment is based has been renovated with brilliant taste and is equipped with everything the guest would need. But the most important thing is the gentle personality of Signora Denise. I can't imagine a kinder and more attentive host than her. Thank you Denise for everything again! We will come back!

The host was very friendly and accommodating. The setting was beautiful with views of Mt Etna. It was very reasonably priced for such lovely rooms. The breakfast (included) was exceptional. We also had a lovely evening meal and local wines.

somewhere between dreams, imagination and hope lie what we are presented with as 'reality'! Castiglione and Donna Denise are closer to the dreams and hopes of this long time traveller. The saying goes; 'a picture is worth a thousand words' Pictures and thousands of words could not come close to describing the visit we made to Castiglione.....no words,....no pictures! Silence and a smile and knowing that I had held the best in my hand if for just a few days!

Charming truly Sicilian town with narrow streets and in close neighbourhood with Etna. 40-50 min drive from touristy Taormina and 1 h from Catania. Perfect location for quite holiday on Sicily and tranquillity!

I had read that this was one of the prettiest towns in Italy...

I had read that this was one of the prettiest towns in Italy. It COULD BE but it currently seems now to be very rundown, with lots of old empty buildings, properties falling down and overall just lacking money and resources. It has some pretty streets and some great views, but overall it does not compare to many other towns in Italy. On the good side it is not full of tourists like the Amalfi coast towns, or Taormina but it needs more funding for it to become a place worth visiting for more than an hour or so. The castle has good views and there are a few pretty squares. Parking was tricky as the roads are extremely narrow and no parking showed up on our map!

A great village to stay with plenty to to see around with its narrow winding streets and castle perched at the summit. You are between the foothills of Etna with its diverse landscape and the wonderful Alcantara River with its Gorge and River Park.

It is beautiful old city similar to Toscany cities, located on a hill. It is a bit more neglected than Toscany (Sicilia effect) but still beautifull, with magical climate. Worthy to walk through the city, visit Castel di Lauria - amazing view, panorama on the city, Etna and sorroundings, Church SS Maria di Catena. Good Italian cuisine (home made style) in Presidente restaurant and Dispensa del Etna. It is not easy to drive in Castiglione as it is typical Sicilian city with extremely narrow roads but it is difficult for the first time... than it is like a piece of cake. If you do not want to drive - you can park your car on a parking space - Piazza XI Febrario.

This is a little gem of a place, set in beautiful countryside. All the amenities we could have wished for were provided - and the pillows were the most comfortable we have ever slept on! We had a really enjoyable wine tasting with Guilia at the winery and the staff were kind enough to arrange a late supper for us one evening on our return from the sunset Etna tour. It feels as if everyone (both at the hotel and winery) are involved in making your stay a really enjoyable experience. We loved it!

The hotel is right on top of the village and next to the castle. You can drive there and even find free parking - 20 meters away from the hotel. This is a family managed hotel and everyone was super friendly and making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Breakfast offered a full range of local treats. Our room was big and spoiled us with amazing views of the valley and the Etna.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. It is located in a secluded winery which is very peaceful and the only noise you can hear is the birds. The pool is in a stunning location overlooking Etna. The rooms are of a very good size and complimentary wine was given. The tasting wine experience was very good
