Great shops and plenty of restuarants although we did eat at the hotel Crystal restuarant,where the food served by there own chef was fantastic. Seems like the place is stuck in the 80s but with 2024 prices. Imposible to find decent food for less than 50 euro a person. service level on the (expensive) beaches stuck somewhere in 1986. Price for an umbrella and 2 beds? 30 euros. Ah you want to use the pool? another 5. And Icould go on. OVerall horrible customer service all around. The city is awful restaurants are selling the same trash food you can choose if you pay 30€ or 200€ we tried all. Never again. We are sad we have nothing good to say about the small city. Its a lovely small town with great restaurants and bars but not noisy or overcrowded when we visited in October. It was still hot enough to swim. Located in the middle of Versilia with the bustle of Viareggio and the sophistication of Forte dei Marmi 5km to the south and north MDP has it's own friendly vibe with a lovely stretch of beach (private) and a centre (Tonfano) with plenty of restaurants, gelateria and bars plus shops. The service was stellar, where what really stood out was the warmth and helpfulness of the owners. They went out of their way to assist me, even helping with the ironing of a shirt and recommending a great nearby beach that was both beautiful and reasonably priced. The hotel is in a superb location, spotlessly clean, and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast was also fantastic.
