Book, book, book.
Book, book, book. The "last supper" gets fully booked months in advance. However, we went to the Leonardo3 Museum in the galleria and saw an interactive version that allows you the see the whole picture and zoom in to the detail. Other tourist sites have to be booked in advance to get a choice time slot. Good restaurants also have to be booked, some allowed people in if they had a table free but can limit dining time to one hour. It's not cheap, we found on average a two course meal with a glass of wine was around 70 Euros. Visited the Milan Cathedral 3 times - 1st as a tourist, then an adventure to the rooftop terraces and finally some quiet time as a pilgrim to sit and soak in God's love under the watchful eye of Mother Mary. Milan is a good place to visit for a day or two but we didn't feel there was enough here to stay any longer. Even in October the main areas were over crowded, and tourist traps are everywhere. Wow!! So much to see.
Wow!! So much to see. It is tiring but worth every ache and pain! The canals are fantastic . Great for a pre dinner drink. Ensure you book 6 weeks in advance for the Last supper at the Santa Maria. The Duomo and shopping areas are breathtaking. The Dorian Grand Hotel although it lacks some facilities is the perfect hotel both for its grandeur and its location. Cathedral is jaw dropping - we did the roof walk - well worth doing. Used the hop on and hop off bus for 2 days (much better value) and did the whole circuit on day one and went back to our selected locations for a longer visit on day two. The Castello grounds are well worth a visit as is the museum of Arts (free entry) at the far end of the castle gardens. Loads of nice restaurants if you move away from the top tourist spots. Felt very safe walking around while we were there. We really enjoyed a visit to the Canals which are located to the south of the city - nice canal side restaurants and bars - we had no idea Milan had canals. Final tip - find the Luna Rossa Osteria/Restaurant in Via Broletto and go for lunch, but be there by 12 noon as it fills up with locals very rapidly - doesn't look much from the outside but serves fantastic food with a great atmosphere.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom
