    Stromboli is one of a kind to check out an active volcano. It also has surprisingly nice beaches. The island is lacking some tourist infrastructure. There is no place to rent snorkel equipment, for example. Food is a little pricier than mainland but nothing too outrageous.

    We walked up the mountain without a guide to around 300 Metres. A tough climb but coming back in the dark is also difficult t pays to have headlamps... we used our cell phone torches which was a bit limiting. The experience and views were breathing taking especially at sunset..

    I could and should’ve stayed another day as this would have...

    I could and should’ve stayed another day as this would have allowed me the boar tour to La Sciara del Fuoco to see the eruptions. The volcano is the highlight of this island of course and it really gives it a special energy. The port and the “lungomare” - coastline - could do with a bit of work; they could be nicer and especially the port is not optimal for the volatile weather conditions, which makes it really difficult for smaller boats to dock and get people on and off the boat. I walked the island and it can be done - just have proper walking shoes and prepare for some elevation, but again, I’m not very fit and could do it. My visit was actually for a shamanic journey, savouring the energy of the island and I would do it again, just hopefully with less rowdy yachters around! I do hope to visit again and see Ginostra and the eruptions from closer. Who knows, maybe even a lighter hike…

    Visiting Stromboli was the highlight of our trip to Sicily.

    Visiting Stromboli was the highlight of our trip to Sicily. Watching the volcano erupt at night is unique experience. I know many people who have visitet Sicily but no one has come to Stromboli. Too bad for them. Climb Sciara dei fuoco to see the eruptions. Of coure you have to be used to walking, but it"s not too bad. I recommend visiting in low season, spring and autumn.

    Great place. I'd love to come back and stay 2-3 nights. One night was just a sample :) But if you prefer seeing more islands in one go, you can definitely squeeze a lot of activities into 24 hours.

    We stayed in SoleMar for one night and it was a wonderful surprise for us. What a beautiful place! SoleMar is a large property surrounded by a gorgeous garden and different types of vegetation. Everything is natural and unique and situated in the heart of Stromboli. The rooms are serene and the family who runs it the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. The breakfast is made with homemade ingredients and with lots of love from Anna herself. We’re lucky to have experienced it and hopefully we will back one day.

    The room looks better from the inside than the house does from the outside. Beautiful porthole window in the bathroom. It was possible to move in at lunchtime already. The location is pleasantly quiet, you sleep very well. Starting point for trekking tours to the volcano, the landlord runs a trekking agency. Breakfast was good on the beautiful roof terrace with a view to Strombolicchio.

    Fantastic location . Receptionist recommended a stunning cove for us to go swimming in vs the beach outside the hotel. Golf buggy taxi there- fantastic experience- very much worth the effort to visit Stromboli. Much quieter than the mainland in August. Excellent air con to keep you cool in the sweltering summer.

    Hosts are very kind and friendly. Location is perfect - just 2 minutes to the port and beach. Rooms are very comfortable. We also booked a tour to the volcano, hosts provide headlights and boots for no charge. The tour is a must do - the views are exceptional! Stromboli was the highlight of our trip.
