Vernazza is charming and lovely with it's colored structures and ocean smashing against the rocks of this tiny port village. We went at the end of September, and it was still a bit crowded with tourists and sourvenir shops and restaurants along the walking strip. If you've never seen anything like this, you'll probably enjoy it. We, personally, found it not as impressive as Burano in Venice, which has MANY mult-colored homes and lovely walking areas along the water with canals that were much less touristy and truly more charming!! All of the restaurants were absolutely OUTSTANDING! The very freshest seafood. And all of the homemade pasta was so very delicious. Leisurely pace. We stayed in Corniglia as it was the middle village of the 5. This enabled us to walk to one or two villages in either direction and then return by train. Unfortunately, Corniglia is the only one of the 5 not to have a landing for the boats that travel up and down the coast. The train fare is the same irrespective of the distance travelled. All the villages are exceedingly difficult to access by car with twisty narrow roads and the need to park outside the village and walk in having paid Euros 20 to park for the day if you were able to find a space. Super relaxing. no cars, no other traffic.
Super relaxing. no cars, no other traffic. A place to get the real Italian vibe with amazing cafe in the morning and strolling around the place is just perfect. It's small and charming and everywhere we went it was fantastic, friendly with kind and hardworking people. La Torre Restaurant was mindblowing. They had a power out in half of the city that day and still cooked for us with mobil flashlight and gas stove. Very silent nights and a very nice bistro just around the corner with great coffee and pastries. We could leave our car parked at the house and did not need it most of the time. Bus stop not far away (to Vernazza by Bus is a cool Trip by itself). Also in walking Distance were several hiking Trails with amazing views on the Coastline of the cinque terre.
