Lots of ceramic shops selling almost the same items. many good restaurants within walking distance. Arrive by train then take the accensore (elevator) down to the town - the lift-well is lined with blue tiles and fish. Gorgeous. The ferry stops down at the bay and bus 68 takes you up to the town for 1.4euro. I booked the Double Room with Sea View for good money but at no value. The room had a window with blinds that were broken and not possible to open, so instead of the sea view I've got the 4 walls closed space (perfect for Amalfi coast vacation!). Old smelly absolutely shaky furniture, cracks on the walls, dirty walls that haven't seen any paint since the building was finished I guess. Even the soap saucer in the bathroom was cracked. We were looking to have a relaxing holiday in a cosy, seaside town and Vietri certainly didn't disappoint! It's a beautiful place with lots of lovely shops, bars and restaurants. Everyone was very friendly and eager to help us out. We visited a few places like Amalfi and Positano which we felt were too busy and touristy, but Vietri wasn't like that at all, it feels genuine rather than commercialised. There's a lot of steps as others have mentioned, but I think this just adds to the character of the place and helps to burn off those big bowls of pasta. We think Vietri is the best place to stay on the Amalfi coast. It is easy to reach (most other towns are a pain to drive to), and is a great place to explore from, with Pompeii only 25 mins drive and Herculaneum around 35 minutes, all motorway. The town itself is very authentic and prices are reasonable compared to the better known places. The boat service to other Amalfi towns is regular and easy to use without being too expensive (€25 return to Amalfi for 2 people) - we enjoyed the boat trips as much as the towns which were generally heaving with tourists, I’d hate to think what high season is likeGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A charming village full of character, famed for its beautiful pottery, we particularly enjoyed its charming little shops filled with colour and variety. The location was conveniently close to Molina, the small village where we stayed. On our first day, we dined at a local restaurant that was excellent, with a variety of fish and meat dishes at reasonable prices. Theresa, Enzo and Antonia were wonderful! They met us upon arrival and explained everything in English. Our rooms were very clean and modern with exquisite views of the sea and town. The breakfast room was excellent, clean, comfortable with plenty of snacks and bottled water and juices. The location was perfect, close to town and we were able to access ferry boats to the rest of the towns on the Amalfi Coast and Capri right from the Vietri sul Mare port a short walk away. Restaurants, shopping and bars are abundant in Vietri and the people are very friendly and most speak English if your Italian isn't great. Access from Rome was easy via Tren-Italia. The balcony was gorgeous and provided us the best place to sit in the evenings. Fabio and the kind lady who served us breakfast each morning were absolutely lovely, we felt very welcome. They kept the kitchen fully stocked with cold water, fruits and other items. The provided breakfast was absolutely wonderful as well as the coffee. Honestly could not recommend Bellavista enough.
