The seafront area is really nice, with a great view across to Sicily and the Straits of Messina. We didn't find a lot of dining options down there, but there are apparently a couple of good restaurants in the neighbourhood. The traffic, as in all Italian towns and cities, is pretty frantic, and parking isn't easy at all, but it's worth a visit/stop en route to the ferry for Sicily, as it has quite a nice atmosphere and outlook.Guest review byClaudeAustralia - 4.0

Villa San Giovanni is a place of transit. It is very small, not very pretty and when we were there, the "lungo mare" was still under construction.
