I had a fantastic stay at this ryokan. The indoor onsen was wonderfully relaxing, offering a peaceful and soothing experience. What truly stood out, though, was the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like family—attentive, kind, and always ready to help with a smile. Their genuine hospitality really made the stay special. The room was comfortable and traditional, with everything we needed for a cozy, restful night. Matsushima is a small tourist city, quite a few coaches and tour parties. The main attraction is a boat trip around the bay which is recommended, although it may be nicer in one of the smaller boats. Walking over the long bridge to Fukuurajima and then walking around the island was very enjoyable and gave a better view of the other islands in the bay than we got from the boat trip. It's amazing.
It's amazing. There's such an incredible amount to do and see. We explored for 5 hours two days in a row in the freezing cold and would do it again in a heartbeat it was so nice. Especially grateful to the dinner and breakfast manager. I appreciate them preparing vegan meals and taking into account all of our food restrictions.
