Great place with so much to do, from a beautiful temple on a cliff overlooking the sea in a nearby town to the most stunning national park in South Korea, along with beaches and great food. Our son has lived in Seoul for 9 years. He and his friends were surprised that we chose to go to Sokcho after our stay in Seoul and suggested Busan instead. Their main concern was that we would struggle with language in Sokcho as we only speak a little Korean. It didn't turn out to be a problem at all! The local people were really friendly and were keen to speak to us in English to find out where we were from etc.to practice their English. Sokcho was brilliant offering both coast and the Seoraksan National Park. It was nice to get out of the city and spend 5 days there. Nice clean Beaches with Clear water.
Nice clean Beaches with Clear water. Ok for families, not much going on if you are single. Stay 2 days.You can walk to most places in the town within half an hour. Getting to Sokcho is pretty easy from Seoul. Perfect place for sea food lovers! Beaches are very clean. And all the places are accessible by public transport bus. Pizzalazza restaurant for pizzas, Lotteria for vegan burgers- highly recommended. Sokcho eye gives you a very beautiful view of the city. Naksansa temple is very beautiful. A popular gateway for visiting Seoraksan National Park. Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market is a large traditional market offering many local products (eg. fresh and dried seafood) and local street food. Convenient bus services operate within Sokcho and out of Sokcho. There is a beach at the southern end of the city. I really like to visit seoraksan national park for mount hiking. I visited Sokcho fish market and had King crab. Bus 7 and 7-1 go to Sokcho express bus terminal/ Sokcho intercity bus terminal/ Sokcho seafood market. I used to stay resort before. It is nice and good scenery but I had to use taxi all the time. I stayed near Sokcho express bus terminal/Sokcho beach this time, it save lots of transportation cost, so I enjoyed king crab.Guest review byAnonymous

Not only that, but the busses nearby would easily and quickly take you to Seoraksan, Sokcho beach and many other places. Juliet, the owner and manager, was incredibly friendly, and gave so, so much information about the area and things to do. The Sokcho seafood market and many brilliant restaurants are right around the corner from the guesthouse. Individual toothpaste and toothbrushes were provided, and everything such as soap, shampoo, hair dryer, skin, and lotion were provided. There were convenience stores, restaurants, markets, and Sokcho Port within a 10-minute walk around the hotel, so it was very convenient to stay. Washers and dryers available, coin operated. Bus to Seoraksan National Park 3 minute walk. Express bus station, where buses from Seoul arrive is about 3km away. The location is very good. the room function is perfect, providing a lot of space to keep stuff plus a washing machine, a microwave, a big fridge, toiletries. Beds and room are clean with very good view of the lake and the colorful bridge of sokcho at night.
