During our trip to Sri Lanka – a 14-day circuit – we stayed three nights at the Flame Tree Estate. And what happiness! In terms of accommodation, this was our best stopover. This estate-hotel, near Kandy, is a delicacy for the eyes, ears, and taste buds. Wonderfully located in a dream setting, its infinity pool offers breathtaking views of the lush jungle. At night, you will admire the constellations of stars. Saturn and Jupiter are overhead. We had booked the keys to the “cordial crocodile” room located in the recent annex building with an “art deco” style design. The room was very nice, nicely decorated. The bed was as high as it was comfortable (the bed was very high and very comfortable). The bathroom, all in black, was splendid (don't get lost in the shower 😊, it's huge); We booked a room with a view and the view does not disappoint! From the bedroom terrace, the view of nature was breathtaking. As for the main building where the common areas are located, strolling there is a real pleasure. It's a real art gallery inside. The numerous works as well as the carefully chosen decorative objects give the place its very personal character: singular, delicate, and refined. The harmony of colors contributes to the aesthetics of the place. The meals were delicious and very filling. Evening dinner, served as a set menu, was a delight. What to add? That reading the explanatory brochure on the estate left in the room gives a smile. David is English, he has the English humor that we love. How we loved the choice of music, diffused subtly in the living room. That getting lost to find the entrance to the 1H30 walk is a game 😉. An unforgettable memory for us. That when we left the place, we had a little twinge in the heart. But in such a case, better to be sad than happy 😉 Thanks, David, for the welcome. Thanks for sending us the flame tree playlist. I really enjoyed my stay at Royal Lion Hotel. The room was large, clean, and had a very comfortable bed. Waking up to the beautiful mountain view was just perfect. The staff were super nice and helpful throughout my stay. Breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning. Highly recommended for a relaxing and scenic getaway!

Amazing place in a beautiful location

We have truly loved our stay in this lovely place. Beautiful landscape, quiet location, fantastic meals, comfortable and clean rooms, and everything about the place is simply amazing. Overall this has been our best villa experience. Be prepared to be pampered sit back by the stunning pool and just relax. Thanks for the lovely experience

Everything about this hotel was amazing, the views are breathtaking taking. The staff are so welcoming and kind, they really care for the guests. Rooms are a great size and clean. There are a lot of bugs but expected as it is in the jungle. The food was absolutely delicious if you want authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The pool is perfect. There is not much to do and it is far away from everything, but absolutely perfect if you just want to relax, which is exactly what I needed.

We made a last-minute booking and were lucky to get the Sky Villa – a true gem and hidden treasure! The view was absolutely breathtaking, with a private jacuzzi pool and an unbeatable sense of privacy. The service was exceptional, with staff operating at the highest level of professionalism. Totally worth the price. The feeling of being on top of a giant rock is indescribable – truly unique! The room was brand new, and we learned the hotel only opened three months ago. You definitely won’t regret staying here!

The setting itself offers the kind of serenity that feels rare and a place where time seems to slow down making space for rest and joy. Every detail reflects care and dedication but an experience to treasure. A destination that leaves lasting impressions and deserves the highest praise. 10/10.

This fantastic hotel is set in the middle of nature. If you like seeing and hearing birds, then this place is great, with over 25 species in 1 night stay. The room was large, the linens were high quality, and it was all very clean. We had a kettle for making coffee, good AC, and fan. We had a room with a great view over the garden towards the lake. The owner, Chandana, was very friendly and spoke good English. The hotel is very well decorated and comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting to watch the wildlife at sunset on the bench provided. The garden is also a haven for wildlife and has a lot of interesting trees. He provided us with the best Sri Lankan breakfast we have had in a month. It was outstanding, with some of it made by his wife. Him and his staff member were very kind to help us change the wheel on our tuktuk, too. A wonderful place to stay. We stayed for a halfway point between Kandy and Negombo
