FAQs about hotels in Macau

Developing on History

Macau is the true east meets west philosophy. Buddhist temples coexist with Baroque churches, peaceful oriental parks are overshadowed by mega-casinos and cobblestone streets are filled with rickshaws.

Hong Kong’s neighbour across the Pearl River strait consists of the mainland that borders the People's Republic of China and 2 major islands joined by the Cotai Strip. Coloane island is a natural wonderland with its mountains and beaches, whereas Taipa includes Macau International Airport and residential suburbs.

The prominent Macau Tower dominates the skyline of this former Portuguese colony and denotes the coming of age of modern-day Macau. It has set the stage for an economic boom with Vegas-style casinos lining the Macau Peninsula waterfront.

Historic sites and cuisine are important factors in this shining tourism star of China. St. Paul’s Cathedral was the largest Catholic church in Asia at the time with its ruins dating back to the 16th century. The fusion of Mediterranean flavours and traditional Chinese cooking methods makes eating out in the capital an unforgettable experience.

You are sure to find a hotel to fit your budget on Booking.com. There are 5-star beachside hotels, business accommodation and mid-range hotels for all types of travellers.

you have the opportunity to experience three different types...

you have the opportunity to experience three different types of environment. The Mainland part, which feels run down and was rather overcrowded with Mainland tourists. This is where you will find most of the historical aspects of Macao. Taipa which feels better in the sense that it feels more modern and is the place to live if you are doing better in life Coloane is the best place to escape the crowds and has a more village-type feel.

I have not been to Macao for some time.

I have not been to Macao for some time. I would say that there are too many visitors from China in the centre of Macao i.e. like in other countries e.g. Barcelona, Paris etc. Therefore, it is better to go to a place like the Pousada de Coloane if you want to escape the crowds and have a quiet, restful holiday. There is also another very nice restaurant along the beach just a short walk from the Pousada and the food is quite good there.

If you want to gamble, and you can afford the table minimums...

If you want to gamble, and you can afford the table minimums in that town, go. If you're in Hong Kong for 5 nights, take the ferry over. The Portuguese influence is fascination -- but it's a small place. One or maybe two nights is all you need.

Macau is (to most people) an overlooked city in the world.

Macau is (to most people) an overlooked city in the world. It is a totally unique place with both a European and Chinese feel. It is a city of high contrast and so easy to get around by foot. There is something to see and experience around every corner. It has a compelling charm that few cities have anymore. And its very best casino resorts put Las Vegas to shame.

My family recently stayed at the hotel and the experience felt exclusive. The hotel is located directly in the heart of Macau being near many famous Macanese landmarks like the Senado Square and the Ruins of Saint Paul. There are also tons of great restaurants nearby. Also, we would like to thank receptionist Mr. Sam Leong for giving us an amazing room with a breath taking view. The room was surprisingly clean and housekeeping was very helpful. Overall one of my best experiences.

I like the hotel room especially with the lights etc always on even if we went off with the room access card. The toilet is fantastic and room is clean with no haunted feeling. I hope to get the same room when I come Macau with my husband in Feb 2026 again.

The Studio City hotel is located in the heart of Macau, along Cotai Strip. The availability of hotel shuttle was a huge advantage to going around Macau
