We stayed at a the Huayapam Yuu Lodge on the edge of the village, exceptional. An extraodinary setting with mountain views, gracious and helpful hosts, a real sense of tradition and authenticity, wonderful food, plants, hummingbirds -- it was a restful retreat and jumping off place for many fantastic day trips in the region, and just a taxi ride away to Oaxaca city. In future we'd like to explore the eco-park near town and eat at the XHEN Cocina de Humo Contemporánea restaurant, as well as take more time to explore the town and maybe catch the Easter procession (we heard plenty of practice fireworks and music in the distance). It was quiet and there were many sitting areas on the grounds / pool area. I could easily walk around the village without having to rent a taxi though they certainly would have called me for one.
