We travelled to Assen to attend an important art exhibition at the Drents. We had no other itinerary, other than to see the exhibition, and leave. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly, engaging locals, and a pretty little town that is really easy to get around. We stayed the night, and were happy we did. It's close to all the restaurants but it's still very quiet and the rooms are quite spacious. The train station is less than 10 minutes away on foot. Breakfast is brought to the room in a trolley and you can enjoy it at your own pace. The best part was the kindness of the hosts, they were so welcoming and helpful.
