On the first day of Kathmandu in the city bus I was stolen money from my poshest. Until that time I had thought that Nepali were honest and diligent. So that I didn’t pay attention to things like having my money stolen on the bus. On the last day the airport was closed because of the strike, so I had to reschedule my ticket and stay in hotel one night more The city is so dusty and lots of rubbish. You have to say No! Everyone wants you to buy from them but they are used to being rejected. There are some people wanting to talk to you, often wanting to show you their workplaces etc so they can lure you in to buy their wares. Conversations always start with Hello sir/madam. Treekers home provides an excellent accommodation facilities in low cost. Especially, staffs were very helpful and the location of the hotel was also nice. Mostly stayed in Thamel tourist area and ate at many local spots: House of MoMo, Third Eye, Yok Bar were all great! But careful as some of the menu descriptions can be a little misleading. Ex: I received a 'chicken skewer' meal that was NOTHING like described. It was even missing the skewers. But the staff was extremely helpful and eager to please. The traffic/driving is crazy! Mopeds/motorbikes are high percentage of use, with automobiles being less visible in the high tourist areas. It is REALLY dusty everywhere. Wear a mask or buff if you have allergy/breathing issues.
