Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips. The drive from Balclutha to Cromwell, Queens Town, Wanaka, Milford sound and Lake Takapo are breath taking.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The new information centre and war memorial was fabulous.
The new information centre and war memorial was fabulous. The staff were ultra helpful and friendly and proved to be a real asset to the town. The views are fabulous around the town and I would recommend staying here to anyone.Guest review byAngelaNew Zealand - 8.0

So completely well equipped right down to new toothbrushes should you have forgotten yours and food supplied was just great. The view from the private deck looking out over Balclutha was a bonus off street parking made being there easy and convenient. We loved meeting the animals too. The bed was very comfortable that I felt like I was in a hotel! The views in the evenings and mornings were gorgeous.
