Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Surprisingly beautiful, there is plenty of trees and plants everywhere, its almost like the whole city is a park. The roads in some places are very bumpy,I guess from the earthquakes. Yummy pies in the city center, the huge church being held up by massive steel beams is a sight in itself. There were soo many places to eat,but sadly I was thinking about getting into shape. More time needed as I imagine there is some fun things to do. Theres a tunnel that takes you through the hillside to Littleton and the wharf areas ,where if you want to give your legs a great workout the steep streets will not disappoint . Lots to see and do in Christchurch.
Lots to see and do in Christchurch. We had 2 full days to explore and managed to see/do the hop-on/hop-off tram, punting on the Avon, the gondola (plus walk from the top down to Lyttleton), the earthquake museum, the cardboard cathedral, New Regent St, Riverside Market and a stroll around the beautiful botanic gardens. Ran out of time to visit the Art Gallery and Willowbank Wildlife Park which were on our list.Guest review byCarolynAustralia - 8.0

Riverside Market was excellent. Ate delicious breakfast at Vegan stand. Christchurch is very easy to walk around and navigate. Christchurch University - (old) - very interesting - great Ernest Rutherford exhibition. Adventure Park worth visiting -lovely walk. Central Christchurch (NZ's second largest city) is ideal for strolling around on a sunny day. It's situated on a picturesque river with beautiful Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park within easy reach. (Stunning blooming flowers Sept-Oct.) An amazing city, that has been reborn after the earthquake in 2011. So much to do in the city also within driving distance are fantastic beaches. We had 2 side by side overlooking a beautiful little garden. They were private with no others looking into you. They were equipped with small kitchen space and had all the things you may need to make a quick meal. Carparking was provided onsite with no additional charge. Hosts were friendly and happy to assist in any way. Location is great to CBD and airport. We stayed 2 nights but would have been happy to stay longer and explore Christchurch more.
