AustraliaOur host Ted met us at the ferry on arrival (we had pre arranged this) and took us on a short drive to introduce us to Oban. Our studio was spacious with all the facilities needed for our 2 night stay. We arrived late afternoon to an already warm room. Views from the balcony of Half Moon Bay in the late afternoon sun were splendid. Fresh milk was provided and appreciated. The Motel is an easy walk to town and to walking tracks.
Ted and Donna were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Ted gave us tips on a shortcut to Golden Bay and pointed us to places to eat. He also took us back to the ferry when it was time to go - then went above and beyond by delivering back to me my charger and cables that I left behind.
We wholeheartedly recommend The Bay Motel.

New ZealandWe loved staying here - the location was magical and the house was comfortable and homely. Everything was clean and the house was well set-up to self-cater. We appreciated Amanda meeting us at the ferry and giving us the use of a car while we stayed on the island. Amanda was very responsive to communication too. Highly recommended.

The township of Oban is the place to find out most info, access e-bikes and get details of walks, kiwis, trips to places such as Ulva Island. It’s the central township for the island. We loved Stewart Island and our travel by ferry to Half Moon...
We loved Stewart Island and our travel by ferry to Half Moon Bay. We ate several meals at South Sea Restaurant. Delicious! Several walks, beaches and sights were within easy walking distance. We took a taxi from our accommodations to Golden Bay for our Beaks and Feathers Tour to Ulva Island which we would highly recommend. Very peaceful and quaint area that is brilliant for walking to see stunning scenery and enjoy the wildlife. Lots of well made pathways and with the island roads being quiet it was easy to explore the numerous beautiful sandy bays. We took our push bikes so getting around was very easy.
We took our push bikes so getting around was very easy. Luckily the weather was perfect. Still a little chilly at night but beautiful sunny days. We went as far as the road would go in every direction and found stunning sandy beaches along the way. Basic meals at the pub were reasonably priced just watch out for the specials make sure they tell you the price before committing to the order ( $70 lobster tail ) apparently was delicious !! Not many food outlet options. Four square was surprisingly well priced for everyday items they had a bit of everything and the staff were super happy upbeat and friendly.Guest review byLorenNew Zealand

The room was very comfortable though the beds were only double I think, so if you're 6'2" like me, your feet will hang off the end. The first night I wasn't all that comfortable as I felt the bed was too soft - but the room has two beds so the second night I tried the other bed closer to the door and it was perfect for me.
