A great little town with so much to offer.
A great little town with so much to offer. The Blue Pub had great food suitable for all the family's tastes. Everything you could want is available in the town. Lots of activities to do and the Opuke Pools are a must. Opuke Thermal Pools & Spa are a must see, must do. World class! The mountains are beautiful. If you have transport, close by is Ashburton, Lake Coleridge and much more. The information centre in Methven, "I-Hub" is a wealth of information and things to do. Off the beaten track, an alive, looked after, vibrant small town NZ with genuine charm and a smile. Methven is a good place to stay if you are planning a few...
Methven is a good place to stay if you are planning a few days skiing in the winter, be prepared for closed days. I would go for self catering as the standard of service and quality of food is much the same as what you could do at home. If you are prepared to pay top dollar there may be somewhere that is high standard, I never found it. On closed days you can walk the Fairy Trial by the racecourse, go to the hot pools try not to eat there unless you are prepared to wait 40 minutes to an hour for your food, beverages may not be up to standard. There are also other tracks in the bush not far from Methven that you can do a 30 to 3 hour walk. Safe, friendly, small and cozy town, a stone's throw from one of the best ski fields in NZ. I would highly recommend this accommodation to everyone staying in Methven. . Excellent value for money . Roaring fire . Extremely clean in all areas . Beds were made up beautifuly and so comfortable . A quick strol to the pubs and restaurant and shops. . Mountain views . Hot pools were brilliant loved the adults only section. The Brown and Blue pubs were good and lively. The Dubliner was disappointing this time round it has turned into more of a restaurant than a bar - no atmosphere at all which was a shame as we have enjoyed this pub in the past.Guest review byLisaNew Zealand

Double height living space had a nice feel. Small kitchen was well equipped - had everything we needed. Off street parking was handy a couple of times but access is a little tight.
