My baby and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about Waiouru. We were at the Oasis motel which is across the road from the Z gas station and next to a Diner,bakery, bar & bottle store which breaks off from the motel but still far away from the rooms. The town seems run down but it suited us to stop for the night as everywhere else that was a reasonable price was booked out. We had our own food and arrived late as we'd driven up from the ferry in Wellington so it was great to have a motel with a kitchen. Small but quaint town. Absolutely loved staying here.. Has everything you need for a night or 2. Conveniently located. The Italian place has the best huuuuuge meals for a great price. The pub was lacking staff, so no food but still nice to get a beer and a game off pool.
