Urabamba is a wonderful local feeling town with a nice square where you can find very good restaurants. There is a Saturday vendor market around the square and a big fresh market every day only a few blocks from the ,main square. Easy to navigate. I ate at Forty, Big A and Migas. The best way for not getting soroche or altitude sickness is to drive straight from the airport to the Sacred Valley and stay there at least the first 3 days of your stay in Cusco. This is the best way to get your body used to such a high altitude and avoid getting sick. Urubamba has great restaurants and hotels all around, so there’s plenty of choices for lunch and dinner. The weather is much warmer and nicer than Cusco and it’s a great hub for visiting the ruins around the place.Guest review byVanessa VPeru - 10.0

Urubamba is the perfect base from which to explore the Sacred Valley. It's also a quieter, less overtouristed alternative to Cuzco. Visitors can walk clear across town without being stopped by touts every few steps, but getting to Ollantaytambo, Moray and Maras is a breeze (and cheap). The town also has plenty of great dining options, all for much less than you'd pay in Cuzco, and it's perfect for people watching. It may seem a bit rough around the edges at first but within a day you'll find it comfortable and even homey.Guest review byAndreCanada

The breakfast was filling and tasty, and the kitchen staff were very friendly - they spontaneously marked my son's birthday with a cake and sang "happy birthday" to him. There are lots of relaxing spots to sit in the garden. Roger who runs the place is an absolute star. We have never been treated so kindly, generously, and capably in many years of traveling. He and the other staff bend over backwards to give every guest a unique and special experience and I can't imagine any guest not being blown away by his hospitality.
