We like planes in front of the window. It could be loud for some people but it was cool for us. The appointment is very big with 2 terraces. The best beach in Machico is available by walk or taxi.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Camélia and felt right at home from the get go! Even before we arrived, I (at quite late notice) mentioned that we wouldn't make breakfast as we were doing the Pico to Pico hike, and they kindly arranged a packed breakfast for us — so sweet! We met Berta the following day at breakfast and she made us feel so comfortable and welcome :) we loved the family styled homely breakfast (and cake) too! It truly felt like we were being welcomed into someones home, we loved the decor & spending time in the garden (even though it was sadly a little too cold to dip in the pool). The bed was also super comfy :) Would highly recommend!
