Been visiting Alvor for yrs. This trip was the third this year. Alvor not for the party animal. But some great nights to be had. Walking along boardwalk and other pathways a must. The people are delightful, always smiling. Plenty of taxis to be had. For people with mobility issues Alvor might prove a challenge due to streets being steep,uneven footpaths that are also narrow. We have been coming to Alvor since 2016 and stayed over 10 times; sometimes twice a year July and September. Obviously the fantastic beach and great swimming in Atlantic ocean is the main attraction, with great weather. Then it is the fantastic restaurants. Just about any place that grills fish and meat is very good and not expensive and offer fantastic value for money. The Indian restaurants are also excellent. The town has one street that is very busy with pubs, clubs and entertainment so it is available if you want to be busy or you can enjoy nice restaurants and quite bars.Guest review byRosemaryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Alvor is a breakaway from the hassle and noise of daily life. Food is varied and amazing and brilliant value. The people ate so welcoming Weather is amazing Everything is so central no rowdiness suitable for young families and the more mature. Check out The Green Door, Salsa, Wok Fusion, Alvor Bar. Alvor is a fairly small resort, made up of a series of small fairly narrow walkways that are lined with the various restaurants, bars, and small shops. Most of the streets / walkways lead down to the seafront where you find the main three or four fish restaurants, that cook up the catch if the day, for the hundreds of locals, and tourists that decend into the area each evening. Alvor is very family friendly, there are no hen or Stagg parties, and no groups of people singing their favourite football chant from the outside of bars. There are families walking round of an evening, deciding where to eat enjoying their break away, removed from the normal treadmill of life. We had previously stayed at the sister hotel, Pestana Dom João II, but the Alvor Park Hotel was far superior in all respects. The rooms are much larger, more modern and the hotel is much quieter. Unless you're deperate for a beach side property which the Dom João provides, the Alvor Park is a far better place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
