FAQs about hotels in Lisbon

Food, Fado and Fun in Lisbon

Facing the Tagus River and built on seven hills, charming Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world. It offers unique tram rides, intimate Fado performances, great dining venues and much more.

The city is famous for its districts: the Belém's famous monuments; the Alfama's labyrinthine streets, bars and small shops; and the trendy Alcântara's docks. Lisbon’s most popular nightlife and shopping venues are located in Bairro Alto, while the traditional heart of the city beats rhythmically in the Baixa.

Enjoy a walk in the greenery of Jardim Botânico, admire the architecture of the Jerónimos Monastery or explore Feira da Ladra flea market. The Chiado area serves the city's best traditional Portuguese food. No meal is complete without some famous pastéis de nata!

Getting to the city centre is only a metro or bus ride from Lisbon Portela Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel, a friendly guesthouse or a cosy apartment, Booking.com has plenty of accommodations for your holiday in Lisbon.

We were only in Lisbon for a day, definitely too short. We dropped off our rental car at the airport as a car is not needed, many public transportation options. Passport control at the airport was not great but would come back to Lisbon again and spend more time.

Lisbon has a lot to offer.

Lisbon has a lot to offer. The locals were very helpful when we needed directions or subway use help as many young people spoke English. Use Uber to get around when necessary, including to and from Sintra, as it's of great value. Take normal precautions as you would in any tourist area. Make sure you sample the Portuguese foods as they are fantastic. ENJOY.

Be prepared to walk, mostly uphill it seemed.

Be prepared to walk, mostly uphill it seemed. Easy to get to the ferry, bus and trams. Unfortunately, there was a lot of garbage around which was probably from tourists and not from the locals. I think it was difficult to keep neat and clean although we did see many street cleaners. The Time Out Market was great fun, noisy, crowded but an event in itself. The custard tarts were delicious. The Resistance Museum reminds us of todays fears and angst. The Oceanaria was wonderful. The airport is horrendous especially the passport control system. Chaos. A definite downside to visiting Lisbon by plane.

We know Lisbon quite well since we stayed in Lisbon many times. People are very friendly but make sure with accommodation that you have 8.5 minimum plus and have full recommendation from people NOT ONLY from Portugal(could be friends who stayed there for 1 night) ask for pictures from inside and outside of dwelling.

    Lisbon completely stole my heart.

Lisbon completely stole my heart. The city is full of charm — colorful streets, friendly people, and a rhythm that makes you slow down and enjoy every moment. Between the food, the views, and the sunsets, I know I’ll carry a little saudade with me until I come back. Big tip: get the public transportation day pass for tram, metro and busses. Download the app Carris!

Lisbon is vibrant and busy. So much to see.

Lisbon is vibrant and busy. So much to see. It felt very safe. The food is exceptional and all the people really friendly. Very hilly and lots of steps but it just adds to the quirky character of the city. We went to the convent. Amazing and only 6 euro entry fee including a drink. Spectacular views

On arrival the staff on reception were so welcoming, pleasant, and helpful, explaining everything we needed. We loved the room, the service and the breakfast, but most of all, the perfect location. It was in walking distance of everything we wanted to see. The reception staff gave us all the information we needed to get the most out of Lisbon in the couple of days we had. Overall, 5 stars. We had a wonderful time - thank you to everyone at the hotel.

Nice spacious rooms. Bit outside of the city centre, but with the metro very close this is a perfect location for a Lisbon city trip. Comfortable beds. No sound from outside. Which surprised me, as it's a busy street and aircraft fly really low over the hotel. Easy reachable from the airport. I used the metro, which in hindsight was not even the best solution. Metro takes about 40 minutes, where the bus would take only 15.

Everything! The kindness of all staff was superb, the hotel was the best so far in my life based on value-price. It's not a luxury hotel, plain and simple, but based on the equipments and the kindness and comfortability it feels like a 4-5 stars hotel. Breakfast was also in big variety, tasty, fresh pastries and fit for the need.

5 star luxury in family friendly apartments only 20 mins taxi from central Lisbon. Great breakfasts, and cocktails (not at the same time). Kids club was also great, so we could have dinner. The hotel was also very responsive when one of my children was ill and we needed a late night bed change.
