Porto was a charming city, the views from the historic part of town were beautiful. There were lots of places to explore, around Porto if you rented a car or went on tours. there were also lots of interesting buildings and churches and museums to visit as well as some great food. Just beware the slippery cobblestones! It was an easy city to walk around, a fun thing to do was rent a bicycle and cycle along the coast. Going further on the bike would also have been quite a fun adventure.

Loved Porto, the old buildings, the character of the place & the people. So much history there. Went on the 6 bridges boat trip & history tour both were great. Very busy city with so many travellers there. Scenery was beautiful Food was great The Natas were amazing to eat. You do need good strong walking shoes as the streets are cobbled & it is very hilly. Great location for the start of our camino but will be back for a more leisurely weekend

A very tiresome city to get around.

A very tiresome city to get around. Incredibly hilly and congested. Be careful as many parts are very seedy and dirty - full of undesirables to be honest. It's probably our least enjoyed city break ever, of dozens, and would never consider returning. The river life, and around there, is it's salvation. Vila Nova de Gaia - across the river is much more pleasant - easy to walk to if you're committed to Porto already.

Porto must be one of the nicest European cities I have visited, especially in the Autumn when temperatures are kinder. You can walk to most tourist sites, although it is hilly in places. The Portuguese were so friendly and good homered. The food and wine are excellent and reasonably priced. Also, take a train down to Averio. You won't be disappointed.

We had a hotel in the Ribeira area, one block from the river. There is lot to see and do in this section of town. The river is the main draw for tourists as there are boat rides, outdoor restaurants, shopping. My husband and I like to walk through towns, however, Lisbon is very hilly with steep climbs and stairs to many attractions. We rode the Hop On, Hop Off bus and did hop off and hop back on. One night we went to the Clerigos Church for the light show. It was spectactular, I hightly recomment ordering tickets online to see this show. We also had ordered timed tickets to Livrana Lello Bookstore. It was packed with people so when we finally managed to get in the store it was difficult to get around to see anything. You might pass this up unless you are a huge fan of Harry Potter books. Mainly, we walked the city, hiked the bridge to the other side of the river, and just explored varies things we happened upon.

Great 5* hotel in the center of Porto. 2 min walk to the top level of the bridge Ponte Luis. If you are short in time, and want to explore Porto, this is your best option. We visited for one last night in Portugal with 3 kids and one dog. The hotel is pet friendly!!! We also get bowls and bed for our dog. The room was very big. Beds were super comfortable!!! Also the hotel has private parking. You really can't ask for more You can see videos of our room on my instagram @blissmarina under Porto highlights

The location was great and staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not nearly as good as what we’ve had at other hotels in Spain and Portugal. The ‘windows’ were covered with a plastic film, for privacy, I assume , but only opened from the top a small amount, so you could not see out, tho they opened into an air shaft that transmitted noise from other rooms, and you couldn’t see what the weather was like. It made the rooms feel dark.

Friendly staff, great location to stroll around the city center, offers a lot of services (restaurant, leaving luggage at a hotel desk). Despite the generally high humidity level in Portugal in winter, the room in Yotel was very warm and dry. Keep in mind that the shower/toilet are not located in a separate room, but separated from the bedroom by a frosted glass shield. Not a problem for us, but good to know.

Portugal is a city that is rebuilding itself. This small hotel located in the hustle and bustle of the city allows you to experience the city both day and night. It infects you with the energy of the locals and adds a surreal touch to your trip and selfies. If you visit, when you go out at night, you can visit a small jazz club a few blocks away
