I visited Porto toward the end of October, hoping for a bit...

I visited Porto toward the end of October, hoping for a bit of late summer sun, and for the first couple of days I couldn't have been more pleased, but unfortunately this was followed by several days of rain, which slightly spoiled the stay. On the plus side, Porto is a very attractive city, which lends itself to long gentle strolls interspersed with regular stops at the numerous bars, restaurants or coffee shops. As a city its very hilly, which for me, combined with the heat and humidity made getting about on foot quite tiring after the first couple of days, There are trams, funiculars and a metro system to help you get from A-B, but the Uber taxis are so cheap in Porto, that quickly became my preferred option if my legs were feeling tired or the weather was too wet. In terms of weather proof options, there are lots of museums and galleries, as well as historic buildings and parks, the central market and rivers side market, but there can be a lot of walking between them. That said, the Port Wine Makers tours are well worth a go, but can be a bit boozy. While the 1 hour river boat tours are good fun if a little bit short. The restaurants and bars are endless, and the food generally excellent both for quality and value for money. I would happily return to Porto another time to investigate more, but perhaps a little earlier in the season to be more sure of the weather.

The city had much to offer with history and modern day sites. We did a wine tasting that will be forever unforgettable! I will return to this city! It is an easy to move around in as the Metro was easy to navigate. There was cute little cafe/wine bar across the street that we frequented daily and so many restaurant choices!

Everything about Porto was wonderful!

Everything about Porto was wonderful! The food was excellent, with a great variety to suit all tastes. It’s such a walkable city — you can explore most places on foot, or hop on the sightseeing bus to get around easily. A highlight was taking the tram out to the beach, where we enjoyed drinks and lunch at Praia da Luz, overlooking the sea — such a beautiful spot. The historic area was fascinating, with a lovely market and plenty of live music adding to the atmosphere. Porto’s many churches are stunning, each beautifully decorated, and perfect for lighting a candle or two. Mistu Restaurant is definitely worth a visit — make sure to book ahead! They offer a delicious sharing menu that’s perfect for trying a bit of everything. If you enjoy walking, there are lots of guided tours available, or you can easily explore on your own. Overall, Porto is an ideal destination — even for solo travellers — full of charm, great food, and plenty to see and do.

There was plenty to do in Porto over a long weekend break - lots of fabulous views, fantastic food, interesting drinks and fun to enjoy sitting next to the Douro river watching the world go by or walking along the river down to the sea from Porto Town Centre :-)

Porto was by far the most beautiful city we visited in our 4 weeks in Portugal.Do the Hop on Hop Off ( Coastal route - Blue route on the Red Bus ) and then walk around the area where the start point is when you get off . Walk down to the riverside and walk across either the top bridge and cablecar down or the bottom bridge . We did both . Port tasting in the amazing cellars was great ( we did Ferreiras which is convenient - book in advance as fills up ) . So beautiful .

Great little boutique hotel within old-town Porto, Portugal, convenient to many of Porto's must see charms. We were offered an unexpected junior suite upgrade upon arrival. The king bed was very comfortable, along with the robes / slippers. The artsy room decor was upbeat and inviting. The morning full breakfast buffet was delicious, as well as the expresso and coffee lattes we enjoyed on a daily basis. Very friendly professional staff, especially the helpful personalized attention received from hotel management.

Very helpful and kind hosts. The hotel is located on a street on good place for walks around the city, close to metro and next door from a good restaurant. Room was clean and well furnished. Breakfast was tasty, on an outdoor porch. Overall a very good introduction to Portugal which made our stay awesome.

Our stay was excellent. The hotel was very clean, the staff very professional and helpful. We especially enjoyed the food in the restaurant, which was one of the best we have found in Portugal. Indeed, we were surprised it was not better patronised. We would certai.nly stay there again.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in so far in Portugal. Not sure why would anyone give this hotel less than a 10-star rating. If you are a late bird, try out Floresta cafe by Hungry biker for a breakfast.
