The house is in the middle of the beautiful countryside and easily accesible. The garden is gorgeous and the house is very clean and super nicely designed. The owner was very sweet and helpful, she recommended us a local restaurant.

What a fantastic hotel. So different from your usual hotel. I could have stayed so much longer here. Great just being able to have a drink or meal (or in your bedroom) and grab a book or two to read or flick through. It’s just superb. Staff were great and the evening food was excellent.

The hotel was located just outside the walled city with easy access through a pedestrian gate just steps away from the front entrance. Parking was a bit of a challenge (narrow streets), but the staff on check in were most helpful and it was sorted out in no time. The hotel is decorated as a medieval manor house with antiques, swords and armour scattered throughout. Check in was a breeze, but we were surprised at the size of the key. Getting to the room was simple and once there - the size of the key made sense. Opening the door took a moment as you had to unlock the door and then use a handle to lift and interior latch (it took a moment or two). Once inside, there is a plastic insert included with the key that must be inserted into a slot near the door to allow the lights, etc. to work. The room was small, but clean and cozy with a view to a grassed - terraced. The bathroom was to die for - lots of space and a bathtub large enough that I thought I could do laps in. Restaurants were mere steps away and the front desk staff were very helpful with suggestions. An unexpected treat was the common area with a large fireplace, comfortable seating and an honour bar with a wide variety of choices (you noted what you drank on a chit and provided it to the staff to be added to your room). It was a treat to enjoy a glass of port (or three) after dinner and a walk around the town. Room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Breakfast the next day was excellent with hot and cold choices, great coffee and some exceptional (according to my spouse) breakfast cakes. All in all, highly recommended during your stay in Obidos.

    This house is not for travelers who are not Portuguese...

    This house is not for travelers who are not Portuguese speaker . Host knows zero English , impossible to communauté . House is located rurally , impossible to find . You have absolutely zero privacy , not heating in the house , slept under 3 blankets . Frizzing bathroom , outdated furniture , towels old and hard is a rock . Internet is poor . Basically , this impossible to have 9 rating for this property , so I am sure that rating is done my fake review , and this is unfair for other traverses , please do not mislead travelers, this is unfair way to do business .
