Having a walking tour and a tour of the Covento with Monica from GuruWalk is highly recommended. She was brilliant and really enhanced our stay by showing us small things we would never have noticed. Tomar is a very pretty Portuguese town. Nearby are the monastaries of Alcobaca and Batalha both world heritage sites and easy to visit. Room, location, cleanliness, breakfast and staff courtesy where excellent. Only drawback was the Wi-Fi connection. A small city with an impressive history. The Templars castle, church, convent above all. A great number of historical buildings well restored, some with new functions like gallery. We chose Tomar because we had stayed in your hotel some seven years previously. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel, Tomar and the surrounding area that time. Given that my son and his wife were travelling from the Algarve it made sense to meet up at a near central point. Tomar is a lovely city, although it's more the size of a small town. It has lots of character and is very neat and tidy. The architecture of the city is lovely and being on a river adds to it's charm. If you're looking for a quieter time away from the hustle and bustle then I would thoroughly recommend it. There are many places to eat and the prices are really reasonable compared to the UK (around 50%) The Templar Castle and Convent of Christ is a must visit.Guest review byAnonymous
