Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between...
Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between Ljubljana and Koper. It is very close to both Lipica and to skočjanske Jame. These caves are my favourites in Slovenia, although not to be visited if you have a problem walking.. The park surrounding the caves is very beautiful too. Divača itself is quiet, but has a Cinema museum, which is popular with those interested in early silent films. There area few trains three each day, and also a bus service during the week. Not at the weekend, however, as I found to my cost on another occasion when I drove a friend's car home for her - and then found there were no buses on Saturdays by which to travel back to the coast!, and the next train would have kept me late for my meeting. Luckily, there were others around to heading the same way. While Skočjam and Lipica are open all year, there are also smaller caves in the area which are open only in the tourist season. To drive there from the coast takes about 30 minutes, and about the same driving time will take you to Postojna and the more famous caves there, or to Predjamskigrad, an amazing Castle , most of which is inside the mountain, hence its name - the castle in front of the cave.Guest review byAnnSlovenia

We booked one family room but there were two seperated bedrooms which share one entrance, so it was safe and comfort at the same time to stay with children. We arrived late and could eat in the restaurant of the hotel for the cheap price. There was a secure garage for us to store our bicycles. The buffet breakfast was good with many options. The staff were very accommodating and we enjoyed a happy hour on the patio in front of the hotel. The attached restaurant has really good food, too. The room facilities were simple but sufficient. We paid extra for the breakfast from local products. The hostel has a garden where you can relax. There is a communal kitchen with utensils as well.
