A pretty charming place. A good amount of restaurants could be found and there were plenty of coffee shops and bars. The walk along the river is lovely as there are lots of swans. We've only had a few hours in Maribor, like 8-10 hours, but...
We've only had a few hours in Maribor, like 8-10 hours, but I wish we stayed maybe a day. We managed to stroll a bit within the old town, went to the Piramida Hill and visited the castle and the Basilica of Our Mother of Mercy church. This city has more to offer and I wish we had more time. We've had dinner at GALA ŽAR, which is a small traditional Slovenian restaurant, The staff there was friendly, but their english was not very good. The food was good.Guest review byMihaiRomania - 10

A city full of culture and charm. So many interesting things to see, do and experience. The only thing that was a bummer for me was that I arrived on Sunday and most of the shops, cafes and restaurants were closed by 8. Small city with good wine, coffee and food.
Small city with good wine, coffee and food. Prices are low compared to western europe but higher than the rest of the slavic world. There's not a huge amount to do but it's well-connected to Ljubljana and the Austrian border. Would recommend coming here in the summer-time. There are also fewer hostel options for those backpacking, the market is more geared towards hotel stays. The real way to see Slovenia is outside of the cities and in the mountains and forests, and Maribor is close to all of these, especially Pohorje.Guest review byJoshUnited Kingdom

Very quiet countryside place, surrounded by green areas, narrow roads. We stayed only one night while traveling on a motorcycle, but we really enjoyed it, the room was small, but very well equiped, everything was just where you needed it, it was very clean and comfy, we rested well.
