There is a village feel to Kamala Beach, you can easily walk to shops, restaurants etc. Lots of local stalls for drinks, food, massages, sun loungers etc right on the beach. Later in the day beach volleyball is very popular - casual horseriding, jet skis, surfing and parasailing available. Some walkways/footpaths along the beach restaurant areas have been upgraded in the past 2 years - so much easier. There are now 3 supermarkets on the main road. The beach was clean . There were designated areas that had clear notices saying it was dangerous to swim . There was an area that wasn’t designated dangerous for swimmers where the waves weren’t big. Kamala Beach is much quieter than Patong.
Kamala Beach is much quieter than Patong. Good for those who do not need a marijuana outlet on every corner or taking your life in your hand crossing the road. Good for families or more mature people who do not need to be entertained 24//7.
