We are regular visitors to the mountains, only live 50 miles away, easy to get to for us. Prefer off season, not crowded, plenty of local hiking trails, we take dogs, pet friendly accommodation readily available. We visited in summer and it was a great time to enjoy the place for hiking, biking and great restaurants. The Village is a great place to spend time visiting shops and taking in the relaxed pace of life. The Big Bear Lake area has a lot to offer.
The Big Bear Lake area has a lot to offer. We happened to stay the weekend of a big cycling race, but were there primarily for fishing. Beyond the outdoors activities, I was surprised to see so many other things to do. There is a nice, albeit touristy centralized area near the rental properties that is within walking distance. We also enjoyed shopping in the local community. Although we visited during the summer, I'd happily return during the winter. We were very lucky to have a room on the 1st floor looking out onto the beach. Everywhere was extremely clean and modern looking and the staff were very friendly. This was definitley value for money considering what we paid. We especially liked the firepit being lit which allowed us to stay out in the evening and enjoy the area.
