We travelled out of Yosemite towards Lee Vining and travelling that little bit further north. That extra bit of driving was well worth the landscape and facilities of Bridgeport. Although small, had excellent facilities, restaurants, bars, shop and historical info. Felt totally safe there and it was only a fairly short drive back down to Mono Lake. Do stop at the viewing point on the way down for pictures and Bodie is definitely worth a stop if interested in the history of mine towns. It was better than others we have been to, like Calico near Barstow. Will need to engage the 4 wheel drive to negotiate the road though!

We give Virginia settlement a five star rating it was clean, An amazing, beautiful location and had all the amenities you could ask for! Perfect location to explore around Yosemite Bridgeport, mono, and all the other surrounding areas. We stayed in the handmaiden cabin and it was perfect for our family!!! The kitchen and the restaurant was really good as well. My daughters favorite part was the rainbow trout that you feed that they raise on the property. It was a pretty cool experience. Thank you so much. We will be back soon.

The main reason to visit Bridgeport is as a convenient base for Bodie. Bridgeport has all the facilities required, good lodging, restaurants / cafes plus gas stations. Everything within the town is walk distance.
Bodie is an east drive away.

Easy walking distance to restaurants and stores.
Easy walking distance to restaurants and stores. The room was comfortable with a fishing theme decor. It had a nice patio and grass area overlooking a stream. The staff was friendly and helpful. Very relaxing. Being a drive in motel, it was sometimes noisy outside our front door.

Small town with good food. Many attractions around.
Small town with good food. Many attractions around. We visited the travertine hot springs, which are very accesible open to the public for free. And Bodie, gold mining boom ghost town. Green creek and meadows. Virginia lakes Lundy lakes and Mono Lake.

We loved staying in the heart of the historic town of Bridgeport California. We found the people of the town of Bridgeport to be very friendly and made us feel right at home. Despite being a small town, there are many food options available in the local restaurants. The scenery of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains surrounding this town are breathtaking!

Because it was cheaper than other places I’d stayed in town, I was a little leery. I’d also heard the parking was “tight” and it was. I worried about dents, to be honest, although I didn’t experience any. Inside was comfortable and fairly clean, although the grime around the door handles and locks on the inside was off putting. That should have been an easy fix with a few swipes of a sponge. Overall, my stay was neutral. The TV and wifi were reliable. I appreciated the quaintness of the motel’s exterior.

Great place to stay. The lady at the front desk was excellent with regards to checking in, the area in general, where to get good food and so on. The room faced a river and had a large grassy space to go out and walk around on. The Lodge is at the south end of Bridgeport and is the perfect place to go out and explore the town from. There is a really well maintained pool too, should anyone need to cool off.

The setting of the property was perfect for the area, sited just around the corner of the biggest ghost town of Brodie. The Wild West themed huts and wagons were perfect for our nights stop over. The fire pits were an added bonus and the food severed in the restaurant was lovely. Massive breakfast that set us up for another days adventures in the area.

The building is lovely and the rooms beautifully decorated. Everything was comfy enough and the check in went super smoothly. Jeff was very nice and welcoming and gave us tips and recommendations around Bridgeport :)
