I was here for a business trip to do landscape plans for a large residential project in rural area outside Chico. But Chico seemed larger than what i expected, and I was working also in a very beautiful area of rolling hills and horses and large custom homes and oak trees, with horses and alpacas. If I had more time, I would have visited the Chico state university, and sadly, to see the historic burned out Bidwell mansion and Bidwell state park. Chico's population swelled after approximately 30,000 evacuees fled from the Paradise fire, so I appreciate their hospitality. There is so much more to Chico than being a college town, but the college town atmosphere is what gives the city it's culture and charm. The summertime Thursday Night Markets are a perfect time to see the community come together in a vibrant, music filled event. If you're looking for Mexican food that is easy on your stomach then you can't go wrong with local staple La Comida. If you aren't visiting Chico for its culture, then come for its nature. Well I was hoping for more time for personal use, but the time I did have with a nice gentleman I met went quite well.
