Detroit Lakes is a tourist town.

Detroit Lakes is a tourist town. It has numerous hotels and motels as well as a number of restaurants. The town is clean and felt safe walking around, even the downtown area. People were friendly and the weather was great as it usually is in July.

Its been a very long time since last visit and the improvements of roads and hotel choices are awesome. I would have liked to stay for at least a week to get to see everything again and use the lake for boating and some fishing. The people were very nice so I will be back again soon

This area is home for me, I grew up a short distance away.

This area is home for me, I grew up a short distance away. If I win the lottery, I'll buy a beach front home and spend my summers and early falls there! 😁. It's bicycle friendly which is a bonus. It's laid back with friendly people. It epitomizes MN Nice. I have memories of DL from when I was a kid and love that it's grown and offers much more than I remember. It's the perfect small town!

We were traveling back up north from Rochester and got to Detroit Lakes and was too exhausted to proceed. We decided to spend the night here. We only spent 7 hours there before hitting the road again. We just needed a place to shower and sleep. There was a variety of choices for breakfast and coffee/teas. I’m just glad we got a place last minute.

What a wonderful surprise this hotel was on a very long driving trip! Not fancy or expensive, just very welcoming and comfortable. The lakeviews from my room and the restaurant and bar were stunning!
