FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favourite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognisable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. The original Spanish mission, the first in California, has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighbourhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbour seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodation encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

San Diego is a wonderful destination for families, couples and singles. There is something for everyone in the city and environs. The natural bay makes a harbor cruise a must. Mission Bay with SeaWorld and some great resorts is a great choice for families. There are a few world class museums in Balboa Park as well as the incredible San Diego Zoo. You can experience virtually any cuisine that you wish to try at a variety of great restaurants, cafes and bars. Don't miss a trip over the Coronado Bridge to the village and the Del Coronado Hotel.

A great place to enjoy all aspects of life in San Diego.

A great place to enjoy all aspects of life in San Diego. Beautiful beach, lots of great restaurants, shops and friendly people. We flew up from LaPaz, BCS, MX. Easy flight, easy CBX crossing and rental car was a breeze. Ocean Beach is beautiful with lots of restaurants, bars, shopping and friendly people.

It's a great, well kept city full of nightlife and interesting things to do, kind of ruined by all the homeless people and the really constant smell of urine. Also, don't expect to do much shopping, retail seems like a foreign concept to the city for some reason.

We were only in San Diego for night as we had a flight to catch the next day. San Diego is a beautiful city with a lot to see such as San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Legoland or just going to the beach. Too many places to name that are great to eat at. On this trip we ate at Shake Shack and it was delicious!

While I definitely have a soft spot for San Diego and visit fairly often, it has gotten more run down in the last 10 years. Mission Beach and Pacific Beach have gotten pretty trashy. The area is mostly for young people looking to get drunk, loud and obnoxious. I prefer the Gaslamp and Seaport Village area but those areas do have issues with homeless people hanging around the area. I think the best area in San Diego is the Torrey Pines area and Coronado Island, both of which I highly recommend staying at if you go to San Diego.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The check-in process was smooth and well-organized. The location in the Gaslamp Quarter was ideal - right in the heart of San Diego, with numerous restaurants and entertainment options nearby. The room itself was comfortable and clean, and the provided WiFi worked well throughout my stay. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free stay in downtown San Diego!

Great value hotel, good sized room with comfy bed. The Pacific ocean was right at the end of the road which was lovely, went swimming every day and strolling on the beach. Pacific Beach is a good neighbourhood with lots of bars and restaurants and not too bad a drive into San Diego itself. Easy drive up to La Jolla to see the seals and sealions (and the rich folk!)
