The beach is nice, the train station is right there at the beach and at the Fairgrounds, if you are going to an event there. The downtown area and shops are about a 10 minute walk, and there's lots of great places to eat and shop. Very laid back atmosphere. Loved the pier.
Loved the pier. The promenade was great for walking every morning, as well as the downtown area. Lots of places to choose for lunch or dinner. Also enjoyed Botanical Gardens as well as Grant Park. The views were awesome!Guest review byChristine - 8.0

Ventura is a nice place to visit, and a particularly great find was the Ventura Botanical Garden. It was wonderful - beautiful plants, well maintained trails and gorgeous vistas. Visiting downtown was amazing.
Visiting downtown was amazing. I grew up in Ventura and love the growth and development the city has maintained. Great place to live and work. Location is ideal for: sailing, hiking, fine dining and 65 miles away from LA. So, trips to Disney Land, Universal Studios or Dodgers games could be enjoyable and a short days ride.Guest review byTina

This one was by far the worst, the room has obviously had homeless and druggies staying in it, there was burn marks on the filthy sink, no coffee machine provided, the room was desperately in need of repair, it was dirty. Outside during the night I could hear voices and activity going on.
