Pu Luong was a highlight, a pretty low-key area, hire some scooters and visit the local sights, the market, waterfall, the silk village, all worth making an effort to visit. If you go to the waterfall, make sure you head up the track on the right-hand side of the river to discover other swimming holes that are not so busy. Pu Luong is gorgeous and the people there are extremely friendly. Because it's newly open to tourism, it's quite peaceful, but it does mean there are fewer options (for example, no real affordable food choices). However, the quiet was just what we were looking for, and we both thought the area was one of the most beautiful places we'd ever seen. Pu luong luna resort is an absolute dream settled amongst the mountains and rice paddies. The rooms are incredibly spacious and the view from your balcony is incredible. Wonderful scenery & great staff. It would be helpful if swimming towels were provided in the room. Enjoyed excursion to local market & then cookery course was great fun. Local walks are lovely.
