Designed by Shinji Kagawa, the stylish AKARI et KAORI formerly Taizanso is a 10-minute drive from Shuzenji Train Station. Boasting open-air hot-spring baths and in-room meals, it offers Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The hotel's location was quite convenient. A short bus or cab ride from Shuzenji station. From the hotel, it was a lovely stroll to Shuzenji Temple nearby. What stood out to me most was the staff's genuine hospitality. They didn't speak much English but were very accommodating at all times. Neither my mom nor I eat beef, so with advance notice, they replaced beef with lobster. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Although the public bath was small, it was cozy and well-equipped. It was a shame we only stayed one night.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. It has a hot public bath, and Japanese meals are available for a fee. Everything. The food. the people. The place. Very clean. Very nice people. Everything was unique.

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. The hotel is located in the center of Takayama city, and there are many restaurants around. The Japanese-style accommodation offers spacious public baths. No meals are provided, but bread and soup are provided as light meals in the room. Free parking is provided on site. Everything was fantastic. Stuff didn't speak much english but we could communicate really well. Everything was written and easy to understand. The atmosphere was wonderful. It's a traditional building with a bit old equipment but very well kept. It just added to the experience. Location was really close to everything.We would spend more nights here if we knew what great experience we will get.

JR Takayama Station is located a 3-minute walk away. One of our favourite places to stay at! We loved how simple the room was and the bed was such a dream to sleep on. It was an easy walk to many great food places nearby and everyone was very nice. The private onsen and free ramen at night was the highlight of it all. Will definitely come back again!
